6 including 5 yo girl die as landslide buries house in Dhankuta

DHANKUTA: Six persons died when a landslide buried a house at Gadheri in Budhabare of Chaubise Rural Municipality-1, Dhankuta on Tuesday.

Police identified the deceased as Bhim Bahadur Shrestha (60), his grandson Binod Shrestha (9), granddaughter (5), his relatives Sanjeeb Shrestha (39), Laxmi Shrestha (38) and Dipsan Shrestha (7).

Bhesh Bahadur Shrestha (31), Lila Shrestha (29) and Ganit Kumari Shrestha (54) were critically injured in the incident.

DSP Deepak Kumar Raya, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Dhankuta, said that they were sleeping when the mudslide fell onto their house last night.

Preparations are underway to airlift critically injured and those who sustained minor injuries, Usha Shrestha (33), Sanjal Shrestha (11) and Chandra Kumar Shrestha (28), to a hospital for treatment.
