Motorable bridge over Seti River at high risk as incessant rainfall triggers flood (With video)

DOTI: The motorable bridge over the Seti River is at high risk as the water level in the river has risen due to incessant rainfall for the past three days.

The bridge connects district headquarters Silgadhi with Achham and Bajura districts. The local administration  halted the vehicular and people’s movement after the water started running over the bridge.

The District Administration Office has urged all people living around the vicinity to stay alert.

Chandra Pathak of Dipayal said that the flooded river had touched the bridge leaving the people panic stricken.

Sub Inspector Rup Singh Thapa said that vehicular movement has been halted over the bridge since this morning.

District Traffic Police Office, Dipayal said dozens of vehicles heading towards Achham and Bajura from Silgadhi were stranded at Kulpate, Dipayal.

Even the electricity supply got disrupted since Monday afternoon due to the downpour.

The flood in the Seti River has panicked the people from Banidugrisain, Gopghat, Barpata, Sirkholisain, Kalagadh, Rampur, Dipayal, Gholpada, Bhagetada, Kailada and Naridang.

Chief District Officer Shankar Bahadur Bista said that people have been urged not to leave homes and stay alert during the night time also.

All chiefs of security agencies in the district have also been urged to stay on high alert.

Police Inspector Rabindra Chand said the police personnel have been mobilised in the area for regular inspection and monitoring.
