NA chopper rescues 5 persons stranded on island of Mahakali River

KAILALI: A Nepal Army helicopter rescued five persons stranded on the island of the Mahakali River on Tuesday evening.

According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, five members of a single family of Khalsa Masetti in Bhimdutta Municipality-9, Kanchanpur were trapped on the island since yesterday night.

They managed to save their lives by climbing up a tree after the water level in the river crossed the danger mark, DSP Siddha Raj Neupane of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur said.

Though police were trying to rescue them this afternoon, the helicopter could not reach the site due to bad weather.
