1 killed as truck hits city safari in Itahari
SUNSARI: A person died after a truck hit a city safari in Itahari on Tuesday. The truck also hit a car while trying to flee the scene at around 9 pm yesterday. Police said that six persons were injured in the incident.
Traffic police of Province 1 said that the truck (Na 4 Kha 2924) heading towards west from east hit the city safari (Province 1 02 223 Ha 1436) coming from the opposite direction at Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-5. The truck hit the car (Province 3 0102Cha 9722) also hit the car while trying to flee the scene at Balgram in Itahari-16.
The deceased has been identified as Ishwor Raut (23) of Itahari-5. He was travelling in the city safari, police said.
Critically injured in the incident, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Birat Nursing Home.
Police identified the injured as Hemanta BK (34) of Damak-7, Jhapa, Dilip Kumar Chaudhary (30) of Ramdhuni, Sunsari, car driver Sandeep Raut (30), Nagendra Gurung (35) of Ramdhuni and Saugat Adhikari (24) of Itahari-5.
Among the injured five are receiving treatment at the Birat Nursing Home and critically injured Dilip is undergoing treatment at the Nobel Hospital.
Police are searching for the truck driver who fled the scene after the incident.
