NC lawmakers urge PM Deuba to change CM in Sudurpaschim Province

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers have urged Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba to change the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province.

NC Sudurpaschim Province Parliamentary Party leader Rana Bahadur Rawal along with other leaders urged Prime Minister Deuba to change the Chief Minister saying that they have not got any support from the Sudurpaschim government.

Parliamentary Party leader Rawal along with Chief Whip Govinda Bohara and lawmaker Bharat Khadka reached Prime Minister Deuba’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday morning and urged him to make an effort to change the Chief Minister.

“We have been supporting the government in Sudurpaschim Province. But, the government has not supported us,” the NC lawmakers said during a meeting with the Prime Minister. “Is there only an alliance of two parties in the Sudurpaschim Province,” they questioned.

The Sudurpaschim Province led by CPN (Maoist Centre) has currently the alliance of CPN (Unified Socialist) and CPN (Maoist Centre).

During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that he will take a necessary decision by holding a meeting with coalition partners.

“This is a common issue. We have to move ahead by forging consensus with all the coalition partners,” the Prime Minister said.

It has been learnt that he will hold a meeting with the coalition partners to discuss the issue today itself and most probably he will take the decision by Sunday.

Out of 52 lawmakers in the Sudurpaschim Province, CPN (Unified Socialist) has 14, CPN (Maoist Centre) and Nepali Congress have 13 and 12 lawmakers respectively.

The main opposition CPN-UML has 10 lawmakers while Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal and Democratic Socialist Party-Nepal have one lawmaker each.
