Govt to provide Rs10, 000 each for 500,000 poor households before Dashain
KATHMANDU: The Finance Ministry has sent a working procedure to provide Rs 10,000 each to the 500,000 poor households affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to the Cabinet.
While presenting a replacement bill for the budget ordinance at the Parliament on September 10, he said that the government will distribute Rs 10,000 each to the 500,000 poor households.
According to Mahesh Acharya, spokesperson at the Finance Ministry, the Ministry has sent the working procedure to the Cabinet to distribute the money.
“The Finance Ministry has sent the working procedure to the Cabinet to handover the money directly to the poor people who lost their jobs due to Covid-19,” Acharya said.
The cash will be distributed immediately after the Cabinet endorses the working procedure, he said.
Acharya further said that the government is planning to distribute the money before Dashain festival.
This is the first time in the history of Nepal that the government is distributing money directly to the people.
Acharya said that the entire procedure like how to identify the poor, what are the criteria and who will get it is mentioned in the working procedure.
