10:02 am auspicious time for Dashain tika

KATHMANDU: Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti (Calendar Determination Committee) on Friday made public the auspicious time of tika for the Dashain festival.

As per the Committee, the auspicious time to receive Dashain tika for this year is 10:02 am on October 15.

Ghatasthapana, the first day of the 15-day Dashain, which is scheduled to start from October 7, should begin before 11:46 am, said the Committee Chairperson Prof Shree Krishna Adhikari.

Dashain is one the biggest Hindu festivals of Nepal.

On the main day, Dashami, people receive tika, jamara and blessings from their elders.

Tika is the mixture of red vermilion, yoghurt and rice and jamara is the germinated seeds of barley, wheat, corn and rice.
