UML to elect all office bearers, appoint only three vice-chairmen
KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has decided to elect all the office bearers.
Earlier, a proposal was floated with a provision that all the office bearers except the chairman will be nominated by the Central Committee.
Briefing the decisions of a two-day Standing Committee meeting held to discuss a report to be tabled in the statute convention, Publicity Department Chief Yogesh Bhattarai said that the proposal floated recently to amend the statute was basically a continuation of the ninth general convention.
“We decided to follow the old structure after the party leaders expressed their dissatisfaction over the provision to elect only the chairman,” he said.
According to a new report, there will be only three vice-chairman, Bhattarai said.
Earlier, a proposal to appoint seven vice-chairmen was tabled in the meeting.
The Standing Committee members had expressed their opinion on the three reports to be tabled in the statute convention.
