Leaders urge Speaker to take further initiative to convince UML to end House deadlock
KATHMANDU: Seniormost leaders of various political parties have urged Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to cajole the main opposition party CPN-UML to end the deadlock in the House.
Earlier on Sunday, Speaker Sapkota called an all-party meeting for Monday after the UML continued the House obstruction for the second consecutive day yesterday.
The UML, however, boycotted the all-party meeting summoned by the Speaker. The meeting ended without making a concrete decision as the UML did not attend the meeting today.
Rastriya Janamorcha Party leader Durga Paudel said that the leaders have urged the Speaker to take further initiative to convince the UML to let the House proceed with its business.
“The meeting ended inconclusively as the UML leaders remained absent today,” Paudel said, adding,”The leaders have urged the Speaker to call the meeting once again.”
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (Unified Socilist) party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and Democratic Socialist Party Nepal Chairman Mahantha Thakur among other leaders were present in the meeting.
