Woman dies, girl goes missing after being swept away by river in Lalitpur

LALITPUR: A woman died while a girl went missing after being swept away by the Shubhan River in Lalitpur on Friday.

The deceased has been identified Sanju Singtan (40).

Local Nawaraj Sanjel said that an eight-year-old girl has gone missing after being swept away by the river at around 4 am yesterday.  The identity of the missing girl is yet to be established.

Rajendra Chhetri, Inspector at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Chapagaun, said that a police team reached the incident site soon after they received the information.

Vehicular movement along the Kanti Highway has been blocked due to landslides triggered by torrential rainfall for the past few days.
