Ajay Shahi, Bimala Oli cannot be removed from post of lawmakers: Lumbini PA tells UML
RUPANDEHI: The Lumbini Provincial Assembly secretariat told the main opposition CPN-UML that Ajay shahi and Bimala Khatri Oli, who had won the elections from UML, cannot be removed from the post of lawmakers.
Earlier on Tuesday, UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Bhumeshwor Dhakal had submitted a letter to the Lumbini Province Assembly demanding the removal of Ajay Shahi and Bimala Khatri Oli from the post of lawmakers for carrying out anti-party activities.
The Lumbini Provincial Assembly said action cannot be taken against them as they were elected to the post of lawmakers from the Sun symbol and are legal members of UML.
Both Shahi and Oli had won the elections from Nawaparasi. Oli was associated with the dissolved Nepal Communist Party while Shahi was an independent candidate.
The 9th session of the Province Assembly scheduled to start from August 17 has also been disrupted due to the two lawmakers.
As a result, Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC has not been able to take a vote of confidence.
