UML updates Central Committee, submits details of 260 members to EC
KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has submitted the details along with official minutes to the Election Commission to update the number and name of Central Committee.
According to a source, a team comprising UML Election Department Chief Agni Kharel and Baburam Dahal this afternoon urged the poll body to update the details of Central Committee.
Earlier, the party had a 203-member Central Committee before 2018, but it has 260 members now. Out of 203 members, four have already passed away and Prakash Jwala has been removed by the party. The party has sent the details of 260 members to the Election Commission.
The UML has formed a 265-member committee including those who were added after the formation of Nepal Communist Party with the unification of CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre.
The Supreme Court has recently recognised the Committee.
The UML updated the details of the Central Committee after the government endorsed the ordinance to split the party. According to the ordinance, any political party can split from the mother party if it has 20 percent members in the Central Committee and Parliamentary Party.
Now, UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal needs 52 central members to split the party.
