Youth Association takes out rally against dissolution of Land Commission (With photos)
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML aligned Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) on Thursday staged a demonstration against the government’s decision to dissolve the Land Related Problem-Solving Commission.
The cadres of YAN took out a rally from the squatters’ settlement at Manohara, Kathmandu.
The Youth Association claimed that the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government’s decision to dissolve the Land Commission was against the people’s sentiments.
A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to dissolve the Landless Squatters’ Problems Resolution Commission formed by the then KP Sharma Oli-led government.
Youth Association of Nepal incharge and UML leader Mahesh Basnet said that they have decided to stage the demonstration to pile pressure on the government to roll back its decision to dissolve the commission at a time when the Oli-led government was preparing to resolve the problem of 1.2 million landless people.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the main opposition CPN-UML demanded that the government rectifies its decision dissolve the commission at the earliest.
