SC quashes vacate application against reinstatement of local reps

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court on Thursday quashed a vacate application filed by CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal against the reinstatement of local representatives.

Earlier, the apex court, issuing an interim order, reappointed the leaders expelled by the CPN-Maoist Centre for joining the CPN-UML.

Later, Dahal moved the court against the Supreme Court’s decision to reappoint them.

A three-member bench of Justices Ananada Mohan Bhattarai, Bam Kumar Shrestha and Manoj Kumar Sharma today rejected the Maoist Chairman Dahal’s petition to revoke the interim order.

The Maoist Centre had taken disciplinary action against mayor, deputy mayor and office bearers of various districts who had opted to join CPN-UML after the Supreme Court on March 7 scrapped the Nepal Communist Party and revived the two original parties CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre.

As may as 14 local representatives including Rina Kumari Sah, mayor of Maulapur, Rautahat and Siyaram Kusahawa of Katariya among others had abandoned the Maoist Centre and joined the UML.
