Oli summons UML’s Central Committee meeting for Monday

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has summoned the party’s Central Committee meeting for Monday. According to Sher Bahadur Tamang, secretary at the UML party’s headquarters, the party has also called its Standing Committing meeting at 11 am on Sunday to finalise agendas for the Central Committee meeting.

During the Central Committee meeting held on July 2 and July 3, the establishment faction of the UML led by party Chair Oli had served ultimatum to the rival faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal to withdraw its support extended to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in his bid for prime ministership.

The Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal faction, however, refused to withdraw support extended to Deuba within the given timeframe.

There is a high possibility that the Central Committee meeting to be held on Monday would endorse a 10-point agreement and would issue a directive to all the party lawmakers to not support Deuba-led government when he seeks a vote of confidence in the Parliament.

Madhav Kumar Nepal, however, has already said that he would lend support to Deuba when the latter seeks vote of confidence.
