KATHMANDU: Artists have protested against the removal of paintings made by artists in honor of COVID-19 frontline workers, by Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

They protested in front of the office of the metropolitan city today. A memorandum has been submitted saying that art and the contribution of front-liners have been devalued by the removal of the painting, as it had also been made with the approval of the concerned ward office.

The painting was made on the wall of Ratna Park’s pedestrian bridge based on Dujang Sherpa’s idea to honor the contribution of front-liners on the treatment and prevention of coronavirus infections. Protesters carried banners with remarks on the removal of the pictures by KMC, saying, “Art has been killed in the same city known as the city of art.”
