Second dose of Vero Cell to be distributed from July 6

Preparations to vaccinate 370,000 people

KATHMANDU: Those who have received the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine against COVID-19, provided by China, will be given the second dose from the 6th of July. The first dose of vaccine was given to the citizens in the age group of 60 to 64 years across the country from 8th to 12th June.

The Department of Health Services has stated that the second dose will be provided from 6th July. Immunization Chief Dr Jhalak Sharma Gautam said that the second dose will be given to 370,000 beginning on the 6th of July.

He said that those who missed the second booster dose in the previous vaccination campaign can get it now.

He said, “One can get a second dose of vaccine by showing the card  which proves they have had the first dose.”

Recently, senior citizens in  60-64 age group were vaccinated with the first dose. He said that out of the target of vaccinating 662,367 senior citizens, only 370,395 senior citizens were vaccinated with the first dose.
