Nepal Institute of Research and Communications completes 40th online training

KATHMANDU: The COVID-19 pandemic, amidst all the anxieties and struggles of people suffering due to the virus, has also provided opportunities for learning and sharing skills.

Nepal Institute of Research and Communications (NIRC) – a research and training institute based in Tinkune, Kathmandu, successfully completed its 40th training event on 12th June, Saturday. The institute was previously conducting its capacity building programmes face-to-face, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic changed its modality to online training, and the response has been overwhelming with about 1400 participants attending the event.

Since April 2020 when NIRC announced its first online training on Grant Proposal Writing, the organization has so far conducted 40 training events.

The topics covered were: Research Paper Writing (17 batches), Grant Proposal Writing (6 batches), Monitoring and Evaluation (6 batches), Qualitative Data Analysis (5 batches), and one batch each of Academic Paper Writing, Academic Proposal Writing, SPSS, R programming, Data Visualization, Editing and Proofreading.

“Initially, we were a bit skeptical about the success of these training, given the online nature and lack of interaction as possible during the face-to-face training but due to our quality content and facilitation, our events gradually became popular.

It is a big achievement for us to be able to reach out to 1400 participants in the space of 14 months”, shared Ritesh Phuyal, who looks after the events management at the organization. Phuyal added that the organization plans to introduce other skill-based training packages at a minimal cost.
