Frontline workers of COVID-19 to receive free Telecom voice call services for one month
KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom has brought a ‘Thank You Health Worker Offer’ to boost the morale of health workers in the COVID pandemic.
Telecom has said that the offer is made to keep the morale of the health workers high who are working day and night in the service of the patients on the front line irrespective of the transmission of the COVID pandemic.
Telecom has also signed the offer between Nepal Physician Council, Nepal Nursing Council, Nepal Pharmaceutical Council, Nepal Health Practitioners and Nepal Ayurvedic Medical Council on Sunday.
According to Telecom, under the offer, free voice calls of up to one month will be provided on Nepal Telecom’s postpaid and prepaid SIM cards used by health workers across the country.
In addition, calls made by health workers from their mobile numbers within the telecom network at any time will also be free.
To avail this offer, the health worker has to provide his / her official certificate to the Telcom. The company has also suggested that those who do not have a Telecom SIM should get a new SIM as the offer is available only on SIM cards registered in name of health workers.
Thus, when a new SIM is taken, the name and details of the health worker should be mentioned in the letter pad of the concerned council. Telecom says that health workers will get a free SIM.
According to Telcom, the offer is for a limited time but can be extended depending on the state of the COVID pandemic.
The offer came after Communications and Information Technology Minister Parbat Gurung instructed to hold a meeting of officials including the managing director of Nepal Telecom, Dilli Adhikari, to provide encouraging programs and facilities to the frontline worker.
