Treatment inside hospital premises, outside building
KATHMANDU: With the new variant COVID infection rate intensifying, hospitals are now struggling to manage treatment of the patients. The number of infected and deaths has reached 4 and 3 digit numbers, respectively.
There are currently 40,222 active infected people in Kathmandu Valley out of which 29,244 are in Kathmandu district only. Private and government hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley have said that there is a shortage of beds. Some hospitals are saying that they will not admit patients due to lack of oxygen and will discharge the patients who are undergoing treatment.
Hospital beds are being filled with infected people and they are being treated outside. The infected are also undergoing treatment at the new building of Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center of Teaching Hospital. Hospital Spokesperson Ram Bikram Adhikari said that patients were being treated outside but in the premises of the hospital due to extreme pressure in the 700-bed capacity building.
