Congress Parliamentary Party meeting being held, Prime Minister calls cabinet meeting
KATHMANDU: Political developments have accelerated since the Prime Minister called for a vote of confidence in the parliament through a session of the House of Representatives. While the UML is trying to prevent division, the Nepali Congress is engaged in internal strategizing.
The Congress has called a meeting of the parliamentary party today. The Congress is trying to oust Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, including other opposition parties and the UML’s Madhav Nepal faction, which is why a party meeting has been called.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli has called a meeting of the Council of Ministers this evening. Generally, regular meetings are held on Mondays and Thursdays. A Minister informed that Saturday’s meeting was called on an emergency.
Oli also convened a meeting of the Constitutional Council on Sunday. It has been said that the leader of the opposition Sher Bahadur Deuba and Speaker Agni Sapkota will not attend the meeting.
However, as an ordinance on the Constitutional Council has already been issued, a decision can be made with the presence of the majority.
