Support for frontline workers during the pandemic

50% allowance to be provided to frontline workers in Province 1 along with hotel quarantine facilities

KATHMANDU: Province 1 is going to provide 50 percent allowance to the doctors, health workers, drivers and cleaners who are on the front line in the campaign against coronavirus infection.

The cabinet meeting of Province 1 on Wednesday decided to provide 50 percent of the starting salary to the frontline employees. In addition, hotel isolation will be provided if they are uncomfortable or unable to stay in home isolation while they are infected.

The meeting also decided to provide Rs. 2.5 million in compensation to the families of the doctors, health workers, drivers and cleaners appointed by the provincial government in case of death due to infection.

The Council of Ministers has decided to arrange hotel quarantine for the doctors and health workers of Koshi COVID Hospital and to provide quarantine or hotel quarantine with food/lunch provided by the provincial government to the drivers, cleaners and office assistants.

This facility has been fixed only for the manpower to be deployed at Koshi COVID Hospital, Province Public Health Laboratory and all COVID Hospitals under the provincial government in Biratnagar.
