Houses of Likhu village chairman and ward chairman destroyed due to lightning struck at midnight

OKHALDHUNGA: Three houses of village chairman Govinda Poudel and ward chairman Bishal Poudel have been destroyed in a lightning strike in Likhu village municipality-8 of Okhaldhunga district last night. Chairman Poudel told Nepal Press that three houses were destroyed when lightning struck his room at 1 am after a strong wind.

The house of the village chairman in Tarkerabari and his brother’s house was built in the shape of L in the same ward. Another new house built after the quake was also damaged by the lightning, said Chairman Poudel.

He said that there was no human casualty in his house as people were not sleeping and his daughter-in-law’s leg got fractured while running to his brother’s house. Chairman Govinda Poudel, on the other hand, has been living in the village centre.

He said that the fire broke out after the lightning struck the house in Bhanjyang. The locals were forced to spend the night in panic due to the loud lightning and fire.
