President Bhandari in Dhaka
KATHMANDU: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has arrived in Dhaka for a two-day official visit to Bangladesh.Led by a 54-member visiting team, she reached Dhaka this morning on a Nepal Airlines narrow-body aircraft.
President Bhandari is on an official visit to attend a special ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The program will be attended by President Bhandari and two other SAARC heads of state and government Ibrahim Mohammed Soli and Mahinda Rajapaksa have already arrived in Bangladesh.
President Bhandari will be honoured with a guard of honour with a 21-gun salute. After that, she will go to the National Martyrs’ Memorial, to pay homage to the martyrs.
Today, she will hold bilateral talks with her counterpart Hamid and a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
