Madhav Nepal side in internal discussion to formulate a strategy
KATHMANDU: The Madhav Nepal faction of the CPN-UML is now engaged in internal discussions to formulate its strategy after the establishment side demanded an explanation and moved the process forward.
A leader said that an informal meeting of the standing committee members of Madhav Nepal’s side will be held today to discuss the way forward. It is said that the formal opinion of Madhav Nepal’s side will come only after the meeting in Baneshwor.
A meeting of the Central Committee on Saturday had decided to ask Madhav Nepal, Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey and Ghanshyam Bhusal for clarification.
A letter seeking clarification has not been sent yet. In the meantime, the Nepal side has continued the process of selecting separate leadership for the gatherings of the people’s organizations, but now the process of forming parallel committees through the districts to the lower levels has increased.
Debates have been going on from both angles of whether to fight on Nepal’s side within the UML or to reunite with the Maoists by reorganizing the lower-level committees. But the leaders seem to be in favour of bringing the inter-conflict to a climax by practising parallel committees in the UML for some time.
Nepal’s side argues that all the structures have reached the same place as the party was returned to the status quo by the decision of the Supreme Court. As Oli did not abide by it, a debate has arisen in Nepal’s favour that he should go to court again for the implementation of the verdict.
Meanwhile, UCPN (M) Chairman Prachanda is preparing to go for judicial review against the decision to resurrect. Senior Nepali advocates have sided with Prachanda.
