Attempts are being made to eliminate the problems women face: Chief Minister Shahi

SURKHET: Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has said that the state government is making efforts to solve the problems of the women community who are facing misery, suffering, discrimination and many other problems in the remote settlements of Karnali.

Expressing his best wishes on the occasion of the 111th International Working Women’s Day, the great festival of women around the world, Chief Minister Shahi said it was the responsibility of all to create an environment in which women, who constitute half of the population, could enjoy equal opportunities as men in every field.

“Our constitution, drafted on the strength of the movement for a democratic republic of Nepal in different periods, has guaranteed every woman equal rights without discrimination, participation in all state bodies on the basis of the principle of proportional inclusion and equal rights in property and family matters,” he said. The state government is making special efforts to end the problems faced by women due to social backwardness, superstition and customs by establishing women’s access to quality education, basic health and employment to ensure their rights.

The Chief Minister is confident that the programs implemented by the state government such as ‘Bank khata choriko suraksha jivanbhariko ‘, Chhoribuhari Chattrabitti ‘, ‘Mukhyamantri mahila dalit aayaarjan ‘ will serve as an important milestone in ending discrimination between men and women.
