KATHMANDU: The dream of Kathmanduites to drink water from Melamchi water is finally being fulfilled. The water poured into the Melamchi tunnel on 22nd February has fallen into Sundarijal since yesterday. 

A delegation including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had reached Sundarijal to welcome Melamchi into Kathmandu. The water had fallen into Sundarijal after Prime Minister Oli pressed the opening button. Oli has said that this is a matter of happiness for all people of Kathmandu.

The water from the tunnel will initially be dumped into Bagmati, as it is contaminated. Once the condition of the tunnel is improved, it will be connected to the water distribution system. According to the project, residents will still have to wait for some time for it to be connected.
