Abuse of Nepali woman by Indian SSB in the name of checking
RUPANDEHI: The people of Belahiya have become agitated after the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel tore apart the clothes worn by a Nepali woman in the name of checking. They have said that they will start protesting to prevent the operation of the checkpoint.
Chief District Officer Pitamber Ghimire informed that the issue will be discussed with the security officials of both the parties today.
After mistreatment of the woman on Wednesday evening, the Nepali side surrounded the Belahiya border. The border at Belahiya was tense on Wednesday evening. Hundreds of local border guards had gathered at Belahiya and closed the checkpoints completely.
According to a local, Ujjwal Pokharel, a woman from Belahiya was abused at the border checkpoint on her way to Sunauli for shopping, which made crowds suddenly gather in the area and close the border checkpoints.
Locals allege that the Indian security personnel treated the woman indecently in the evening. With increase in the population of locals, the deployment of Nepal Police and Armed Police has been increased at the border and Indian security personnel have also been added.
Rupandehi Police Chief Praveen Pokharel said, “Discussions are going on. The clothes were torn during the checking. It is not clear how and why they were torn. This is being discussed and investigated.”
