7,000 people vaccinated in Surkhet

SURKHET: The Public Health Service Office, Surkhet, has stated that 7,475 people have been vaccinated against COVID since 27th January.

According to Senior Public Health Officer Chetan Nidhi Wagle, the first dose of the vaccine has been given to 2340 people from 27th to 6th February and 5135 people from 14th February to 22nd February in the first phase. He said that the second dose would be given from the 15th to the 28th  of April.

Meanwhile, the general public above the age of 65 will be vaccinated in Surkhet from 7th March.

“We are starting to vaccinate those who have been released earlier and those above 65 years of age from 7th March,” he said. “There are 24,976 people in that age group in Surkhet.” We plan to deploy 256 health workers, more than 600 volunteers and four medical teams to administer the vaccine. ‘

He said that 2057 vial has come to the district for vaccination, adding that 10 people can be vaccinated per vaccine.

At least 22 people have died due to COVID in Surkhet district so far. Three died at hospitals in Nepalgunj and Kathmandu, according to the Public Health Service Office.
