Fire that destroyed 47 houses in Taplejung Dobhan Bazaar now coming under control
KATHMANDU: A fire at Dobhan Bazaar in Taplejung has destroyed 47 houses so far.
According to Gayatra Adhikari Khadka, Assistant Superintendent of Taplejung, the fire started at around 9:30 this morning and is gradually coming under control.
Khadka, who was at the scene of the fire, told Nepal Press, “47 houses have been burnt so far. Thirty-two rented families have been affected. Some property has been damaged. There are no casualties.”
She informed that the fire was brought under control with the help of a fire brigade and security personnel. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Dobhan Bazaar, located at the confluence of Meringden Municipality-3 and Atharai Triveni Municipality, is the second commercial center of Taplejung. It is said that most of the houses in the market are made of wood and tin and thus the loss of property has been large.
