KATHMANDU: Tourism entrepreneurs have staged a protest drawing the government’s attention to problems of the tourism sector, which has collapsed due to the global pandemic of COVID-19.
Entrepreneurs in the tourism sector have protested in front of Bhatbhateni in Kathmandu. They have objected to the fact that even banks did not provide any concession and charged penalty instead, when the business was halted due to the lockdown.
Tourism entrepreneurs have decided to hold sit-ins on Tuesday and Wednesday. They have complained that the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Finance, National Bank and other agencies have ignored requests for relief packages.
