Melamchi water for test-distribution in Kathmandu from third week of February
KATHMANDU: Water from Melamchi will be sent to Kathmandu for testing from the third week of February after the completion of tunnel repair work.
The Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee has stated that the test work will be started from the first week of February after completing the repair work in the tunnel in three weeks.
Tiresh Prasad Khatri, Executive Director of the Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee, said that the work of the tunnel has been completed but as an expert group had inspected it before the test, some improvements are being made for the sustainability of the tunnel based on their suggestions.
Similarly, Minister for Drinking Water Mani Chandra Thapa inspected the tunnel in Sundarijal area under Melamchi Drinking Water Project on Sunday.
Minister Thapa said that the pace of work on the tunnel was satisfactory. Talking to reporters after the observation, Minister Thapa said that it had been perceived that tunnel construction work was moving towards technical success.
