Hearing begins in Constitutional Bench: Attorney General disagrees with full-court demand

KATHMANDU: The hearing on the writ petitions against the dissolution of the House of Representatives has started in the Constitutional Court. In a session chaired by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara, the writ petitioners have demanded a hearing in a full-court session at the Supreme Court.

The court proceedings moved forward after the writ petition was readout. Chief Whip of the dissolved CPN (Maoist) Dev Gurung has also reached the court demanding a full-court session.

Debating on behalf of Dev Gurung for the first time in the session, senior advocate Raman Shrestha said that it will not be enough for the constitutional bench to look into the issue and demanded a full session.

Attorney General Agni Kharel has disagreed with the demand for a full-court session, after Chief Justice Rana asked for his opinion on the matter.
